[edit] Powers
- Energy manipulation: She is able to convert sonic vibrations to various types of light, allowing her to manipulate virtually every part of the audible spectrum. Not surprisingly, Ali prefers to use music thanks to it's constant rhythm and lasting duration. She can convert the sound into a simple glow that surrounds her body or use it to produce various light effects often found in music shows. Her control of these 'simple' tasks is very accurate and fine thanks to years of practice, though it is a conscious effort to not allow her body to generate the light 24/7. This can leave her feeling rather tired by the end of the day and her body lets off the excess light while she sleeps. Basically, she is a human Glo-Worm while sleeping/unconscious. If her lights are strong enough, she can cause a person to fall into a trance. This is more accidental than intentional. Recently, Ali has started experimenting with focusing the light energy to just her hands and has been attempting to direct it in the fashion that Scott's light beams eject from his eyes. It's been going fairly all right. Someday, this focus will allow her to form LASER beams.
[edit] Appearance
Height: 5'8"
Hair: Blonde.
Eye color: Brown.
Build: Curvy? She isn't overweight by any means, but like most girls she sometimes complains about being "fat".
Distinguishing features: None really. She is tanned and has a bit of 'glow' to her skin. OH HO HO.
Style: Girly. She loves dresses and wearing make-up.
[edit] Personality
Ali is an extremely outgoing girl. A smile is almost always present on her face and during conversations, she laughs quite a bit. Naturally, she can talk to just about anyone, even if they don't feel like engaging in conversation at the moment. If she were in a teen high school movie, Ali would be the student body president/head cheerleader/person with the most volunteer hours at the homeless shelter; the girl you loved to hate, but still wanted to be in the end.
However, appearances can often be deceiving.
Thanks to her months in rehab, Ali has done a lot of growing up the past year. She is no longer the flighty girl she once was and is now more focused than ever. Strongly goal oriented, she knows what she wants in life and has determined she will achieve super-stardom within the next few years. It is what she wants and dammit, she is going to get it. She is a bit nervous, however, and finds it hard to trusts any agents who offer her deals thanks to her former one. Despite her drive, Ali is hesitant about signing anything and is waiting to make sure this is indeed the right choice.
She has an addictive personality. Ali loves feeling good and loves any feeling that will give her a rush, any feeling that will make her feel alive. Thankfully, she now knows that this results in problems with her and does her best to avoid temptations that would allow her to relapses. It's hard, especially working at the Inferno. It is a constant struggle to remain sober, but she sees it almost as a test and something that will make her stronger in the end. She realizes she may never get over the urge to use drugs again and is working on channeling this into her music/other positive outlets.
Ali realizes her actions have hurt people and is doing her best to make amends. It is easier said than done. She is also not afraid to talk about her struggle with drugs. While she doesn't talk about it unprompted most of the time, she would offer her support to anyone who asked.
At least her problems have allowed her to find a new found lease on life? The moral of the story is Ali is just trying to pick up the pieces of her former life. She's trying to stay clean, trying to focus on music and trying to show her former friends that she can once again be trusted. Oh, how she wants to be trusted again.
Ali likes most formers of music, her guitar, composing her own songs, watching the I Love series, yellow flavored mini cakes, shopping at retro stores, discovering musicians no one else knows of and sleeping in on weekdays.
She dislikes how she let things spiral out of control, the state of her friendship with Warren, the drug runners at the Inferno, traffic and feeling out of control.
[edit] History
- Ali was born in Gardendale, New York (a suburb of Long Island) to Carter and Katherine Blaire.
- Things at home were tense because the Blaire's were polar opposites: Carter was a lawyer and Katherine was a free-spirited lounge singer in the city.
- Apparently, she was so free spirited that she walked out on the family when Ali was only a toddler.
- To make up for the lack of a mother, Carter enrolled his daughter in all sorts of hobbies: dance, sports, music, etc.
- Ali really took to music and the rest is history. She grew up a rather normal child, taking piano/singing lessons like most kids play little league.
- She even got some jobs in local musicals playing kid parts. It was awesome.
- Apart from that, there really wasn't anything interesting about Ali's childhood/adolescence. She went to school, did her homework and did her music. Ali loved it and her father was happy to see his daughter so happy.
- Life went on just like that until her freshman year of high school. It was around this time she started noticing things seemed to get brighter when she listened to or played music. Being the smart girl that she was, it didn't take Ali long to realize the glow was coming from her.
- WTF. No really, WTF was up with that.
- Just like all good mutants, Ali didn't tell anyone about this new found... thing that seemed to happen to her. Thankfully, she found that with a pair of ear plugs and a lot of concentration, she could prevent the lights from happening in public.
- She practiced controlling the lights in her spare time and by the time graduation came along, she had mastered them quite a bit.
- Despite her father's wishes, Ali chose not to enter college and instead decided to move to Hollywood to pursue her dream of making it in the music industry. So she gathered up her savings and headed out west.
- The first month or two in California was hard, but she got a break when a man discovered her playing in a coffee shop and asked her to come perform at the inferno.
- Ali loved performing at the Inferno, especially the reaction she received from guys. Oh, this girl loved the attention from men.
- However, not all attention is good and one day a 'fan' followed her from the stage door through a back alley before he attacked.
- Needless to say, she was completely terrified and after her attempts to push him off her failed, Ali let out a shot of blinding light which sent the man running.
- Turns out Warren Worthington saw Ali use her powers and offered her a place at the hotel.
- She was completely thrilled to move into a place with other teens like her as she thought she was the only freakshow on Earth.
- For the first few months, everything was hunky-dory and she even landed an agent who promised to make her a star. He also introduced her to cocaine.
- It didn't take long for her to become addicted to the point she started flaking out on her friends at the hotel. She even started disappearing for days on end, returning with little to no explanation to where she had been.
- In March 2006, Tessa and Warren helped to take down her agent and other employees of the Inferno. Things sound have been looking up for Ali, but no. In more or less words, she basically told everyone to fuck off and moved out on her own.
- Yeah. She did a lot of drugs and some things she is not very proud of.
- This went on for a longish while until one day, she overdosed. It must have been her lucky day because on of her neighbors found her and she was able to mumble enough to take her to Doctor Moira McTaggert. One thing lead to another and next thing Ali knew, her father was out in California and there was no more hiding.
- Once she was stabilized, her father started working on the idea of sending her to rehab. Ali didn't really want to do that, but she realized she had a problem and begrudgingly entered.
- Rehab was OK.
- When she was finished, Ali moved home for awhile and tried to pick up the pieces of her life. She realized soon that she missed the hotel and more importantly, missed the people there.
- Warren said he could move back as long as she stayed clean. Naturally, Ali agreed.
- Near the end of February 2008, she officially moved back to the hotel and in May she began performing at the inferno once again.
- Life has been pretty all right since then. She has managed to stay off drugs and is even taking a class or two come January. Relationships with her former friends... well, that is another issue all together.
