[edit] Powers
Colossus possess the ability to transfer his entire body into an organic steel-like substance. That's right. Everything. It happens almost instantaneously and he can stay in that form until he consciously shifts back to "normal" form, though he will shift back if knocked unconscious. He doesn't need to breathe in this form At the moment, he is unaware of just how long he can stay in his metallic form without having a negative effect on his health and body functions. Colossus is unable to transfer portions of his body, so it is either all or nothing at this point. In this form, he has superhuman strength and renders him nearly impervious to injury such as withstanding bullet penetration or extreme temperature exposure. This form also grants him enhanced speed and endurance.

[edit] Personality
Piotr is a very large and imposing man. Even without his powers, he stands at 6'6" and is quite muscular to boot. He doesn't smile much while in public. On top of that, he doesn't talk much either, so all this adds up to the common first impression that he is a scary person. He knows this and half of the time, he doesn't do anything to dispel the views some people have of him. People respond to intimidating people. You can get away with more when people think you have the potential to punch them. Over the years, Piotr has learned this and it would be a huge lie if he said he had never used this to his advantage.
However, he's actually a somewhat nice guy. While he isn't going to be winning any Most Friendly awards anytime soon, Piotr has a pleasant enough personality. His parents raised him to be polite and he is just that. Need help with something heavy? He will help you. Having a movie night? Piotr will probably be there. He's one of those "nice guys" that knows quite a few people, but in reality hardly anyone knows anything about him beyond the superficial surface things he shows the world.
Piotr isn't exactly what one would describe as book smart. Through out school, he had to give effort to get C's and some B's. A's when out of the questions when it came to anything but art class. He's not ashamed of this. After all, school isn't for everyone. He was interested in art class, perhaps some English, maybe a bit of history and that was about it. Naturally, his grades reflect that. Over the past couple years, he's realized that education is more important that he had believed when he was younger, but he pretty much thinks there is nothing he can do about it now.
Not surprisingly, Piotr is very protective over Illyana. Growing up, he was always the one put in charge of her and that is a job he has yet to let go of despite all the years that have past. He just wants to keep her safe. Illyana is the only family he has left and he really does not know what he would do if he lost her. Of course, he knows that his sister is now an adult and she doesn't exactly need him around all of the time, but old habits are hard to break. He's trying to get better about being a looming presence. Really.
Just like everyone and their mother at the hotel, Piotr has his fair share of things he just doesn't talk about or make public to very many people. He's just not open about things like some people. It's rare to hear him mention his parents and he's never really mentioned the "incident" involving his sister. As far as personal things go, he tends to keep most of it to himself, though it isn't totally impossible that they will come out to the right people.
He isn't very sure about how he feels about mutants being known to the public. On one hand, it was bound to happen sooner or later. On the other hand... well, humanity has never really been known to like anything that is different. Piotr realizes that many mutations, especially his, could be used to help people and part of him likes that idea. Part of him also really understands and wants to remain anonymous.
[edit] History
Piotr was the second son born to Nikolai and Alexandra (LOL) Rasputin in a small farm near Lake Baikal in Siberia. Life was a typical farming life and the young boy spent most of his time doing chores, plus following his older brother Mikhail around everywhere. For the record, Mikhail was a bitch of a little kid, but Piotr looked up to him none the less. That was about it for awhile.
By the time his younger sister Illyana was born in 1997, Mikhail had graduated to the role of complete dickhead and Piotr took on the role of looking after his new sister since his older brother had a lot of disdain for her. They grew closer than the brothers despite there being an eleven year age difference. After a little incident involving a trailer that allowed Piotr's mutation to emerge, the two grew even closer thanks to Their Little Secret. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
One day their mother broke her leg and a few days later, she died of a blood clot. Mikhail became even worse, but thankfully he left home and joined the Russian Ground Forces. Piotr was secretly happy, though it didn't last long because a month after entering training, Mikhail went MIA. No one could give the family an explanation or a body. Apparently, this was just too much for Nikolai to handed, so he sold the far and moved the decreasing family to America.
Well. Rural Ohio.
There really wasn't much in rural Ohio beyond a lot of soybean farms and the family pick up were they had left off back in Russia. Piotr continued to work on the family farm and spent two years in high school before he graduated, at which time he started working on the farm full time. Part of him wanted to go to college, but there just wasn't enough money and his grades weren't the best for scholarships. Oh well. Farm work was respectable and it helped is family, so Piotr was okay with that.
And that is how things were until about a year ago. At his father's request, Piotr took a break from work to pick up Illyana from school. They returned home to find their father unconscious on the floor. Though the paramedics were immediately called, they were unable to revive him from his fatal heart attack. Over the next few months, Piotr tried to keep the farm going, but it eventually proved too much and he sold the farm for a nice chunk of change. Then thinking that there was good jobs in California, he packed up whatever stuff that could fit in the family Ford pick-up truck and moved the two of them to the west coast.
Their story should have ended there, but then Illyana went and go herself kidnapped/taken to Limbo. That was a terrible ordeal and he doesn't like to talk about it, though at least it bought them to the hotel. Things can settle down now for them both. Right?
[edit] Trivia
- Quite an accomplished artist, though he tends to stick mainly to pencil and charcoal sketches.
- Has taken two college classes: Art History I and Art History II. Both were at a local community college.
- Eats too much crap food and drinks a bit too much beer.
- Will totally braid or style Illyana's hair if she asks. Shh. He had to learn when she was little. >>
- Actually has (and Illyana too) quite a bit of money thanks to the sale of the farm. There is technically enough money that he doesn't have to work, but Piotr doesn't want to be a lazy bum like that.
