[edit] Details

Real Name: Rahne Sinclair.

Aliases:

First Appearance:

Age: 18. December 2, 1990.

Hometown: Kinross, Scotland.

Education:

Occupation: Student, Starbucks barista.

Sexuality: Heterosexual.

Relationship status: Single.

[edit] Powers

  • Lycanthropy. The non-magical ability to shift into a fully lupine form, and assume stages that could be considered 'transitional'. These in-between stages allow Rahne a variety of physical enhancements: enhanced speed, strength, and agility; endurance and animal-like reflexes, along with the use of deadly-sharp talons and fangs.
  • Healing. Rahne's healing factor is not so advanced as some of her fellow mutants, but her body can recover from injuries at a much more advanced pace than that of, say, the average 18-year-old girl.
  • Heightened senses. Limited to her senses of smell and hearing, when in her human stage. She could potentially track a person;s set, if she knew it well enough, and her range of hearing is far larger than most. High pitched/loud noises are not a fun time.

[edit] Appearance

Height: 5'6".

Hair: Red.

Eye color: Grey-green.

Build: A little over 120lbs, lean muscle, not much in the way of curves. Which could work for her. If she knew how to work it.

Distinguishing features: She's kinda pasty. Not gonna lie.

Style: Jeans, t-shirts, hoodies. Converse that may or may not be held together by duct tape. Clearly, this girl needs a makeover.

[edit] Personality

Though it has been some time since Rahne has seen the man who raised her, the effects of his stern and almost abusive nature can still be seen. She is not as shy as she once was, for there was a time where she seemed incapable of speaking to strangers, but she still has the tendency to be hesitant – even downright jumpy – around people that she doesn't know. Her manner of speech is quiet, almost sheepish, and her Scottish brogue is still very much present. It took a good deal of coaxing from Moira, her foster mother, before she was able to venture out and make contact with her fellow mutants at the Hotel – as much as Rahne loves using her mutation, part of her still fears that it makes her evil; a devil's creation, like her 'father' said.

That said, she will never bring up her father. Ever. Dr. McTaggert is the only person who knows the full story about what happened, and for all anyone else knows, Moira is Rahne's adopted mother. End of story.

Oddly enough, despite her timid nature, Rahne can also be quite outspoken and very emotional – she will speak up if she has something to say. Those who have managed to weasel their way under her shell find that she is a good listener and always willing to help those whom she considers to be friends. She has even been known to show moments of acerbic wit from time-to-time so, hopefully, it won't take long before she is truly comfortable with who – and what – she is.

[edit] History

Rahne was born in the town of Kinross, Scotland, somewhere near the northwest highlands. Born out of wedlock and orphaned after her mother died in childbirth, she could have been put up for adoption, but was instead taken in by the fearsome Reverend Craig. He was a strict Presbyterian, almost fanatical in his beliefs, and Rahne soon came to believe his brimstone-and-hellfire sermons. The Reverend was a terrifying man, icy, but quick to anger, and she quickly learned that the best way to avoid one of his rages was to do exactly as she was told, no matter what.

Fortunately, the young woman was able to find solace in school. She was quiet and a bit awkward, but worked hard on anything her teachers set in front of her. It was after school one day that Rahne had her first encounter with Dr. Moira McTaggert. Rahne had missed the bus, and was terrified of arriving home late; the Reverend would have been furious. Dr. MacTaggert was kind enough to offer a ride home on her beautiful roan stallion. They talked, Rahne actually talked, and there was nothing timid about her, for once. Moira managed to get the young girl home on time, but when Reverend Craig saw them cantering up to the house, he was less than thrilled. Despite the punishment that she received for such reckless behavior, Rahne found that she had bonded with the good doctor. They were unable to talk as much as Rahne would have wanted, thanks to the Reverend's unfounded dislike for Moira, but she was trustworthy, and Rahne knew that.

That trust would come in handy when Rahne discovered her mutation. Or, more to the point, when Reverend Craig discovered it. Rahne had just turned 13 and was coming into puberty when her powers manifested and try as she might, she couldn't keep it hidden from the Reverend. Both infuriated and terrified, Craig went so far as the pull together a mob in the middle of the night with the intention of lynching Rahne 'like the witch she was'. The new mutant ran from the incensed crowd and was shot down by Reverend Craig, sustaining a deep graze to her shoulder. They would have torn her apart had Moira not seen the ruckus and, given that the mob had chased Rahne onto MacTaggert land, forced the crazed crowd to leave. The good doctor took Rahne in, watched after her, and eventually became her legal guardian.

They left Scotland altogether a few month's later, shipping off for America and, more specifically, Santa Monica. Doctor MacTaggert came to work in the medical center, naturally, and made sure that Rahne was enrolled in school. Both of them kept their eyes and ears peeled for any signs of other people like Rahne – it was Moira who first heard about Paradise Hotel at the end of 2006. It took almost six months for Moira to convince Rahne that settling in with more people like her would be a good thing and, in the summer of 2007, Rahne took the doctor's advice. Slowly but surely, after being surrounded by others like her, and being repeatedly reassure that she was not, as the Revered had said, a spawn of the devil. Rahne began to open up. Almost a year later, the man named Stryker returned for what Rahne learned was the second time. Like some of her fellow mutants, she was caught in the first blast and knocked unconscious before she could find out what was wrong. After recovering, she began taking in extra hours at her job, only to hand over her paycheck to assist with repairs at the Hotel. It isn't much, but it's not like she could simply stand by and do nothing.
