a pair of wings that extend from his upper back. despite their size, they are highly flexible, enabling him to strap them down underneath a coat. with these wings, his body has also developed the resistance it needs to be able to fly for long periods and high altitudes - he has nearly no body fat, a hollow bone structure, and has developed the muscle mass necessary for flight. other adjustments include sharpened eyesight and an adapted respiratory system allowing him to extract oxygen at high altitudes or velocities.

potential:

unbeknowst to him, warren also has a heightened healing factor, carried in his blood. it keeps him healthier than the average person, and his wounds tend to heal faster than normal. for those with the same blood type as warren, a tranfusion of his blood will heal whatever ails them. warren is functionally immune to all diseases and infections.

[edit] Personality

It is easy to write off Warren as a product of his upbringing. Spoiled, indulged and praised, he is remarkably assured of his own worth and his place in the world. Warren was given everything he ever wanted from the moment he figured out how to ask for it, and it seemed life would run like that for him forever.

It comes to no surprise that Warren is arrogant - no matter what the world throws at him, it is impossible to shake his belief in himself and his superiority. It's not that he looks down on other people, or even that he doesn't care about them. Because he doesn't look down on people and he certainly does care about people. But he does have an unassailable belief that he is fairly high up on the food chain when it comes to life, and he has a remarkably amount of pride for a man who has had to claw his way back up from having nothing but a car and a suitcase of clothes.

Warren's new lifestyle has done one thing for him - it's knocked the self-centeredness right out of him. While it may not always seem that way - to a lot of the people in the hotel, Warren can be a distant figurehead, the person running the show but rarely actually around to talk to - he spends all his time working so that he has money to pour back into the hotel. He (and by extension, Tessa) works his butt off to try and create a safe haven for mutants, and it actually doesn't bother him too much if they thank him for it or not.

He is fairly ruthless - as much as he would sometimes prefer to be a bleeding heart, when it comes down to it, he doesn't live in a world where he can be one. He will screw you over in business if it means he gets ahead, and he has no problem with breaking the law if it means doing something for his business or the hotel. While he is insistent on certain precautions to ensure people don't overdose in his club, a lot of it is from simple practicality - overdoses are bad for business. He'd never let you believe it was because he cared what happened to the people who attended his club. Part of the reason why Warren stays fairly aloof from the rest of the hotel is simply because he doesn't want to start caring about all of them too much - because you never know what shit will happen to take them away.

Despite how hard Warren works, he has the soul of a hedonist. He'd really honestly prefer to spending his nights drinking and partying and falling into bed with the prettiest people. Instead he spends his time making sure his club runs smoothly and charming people into spending more money in his club. He still sleeps with a lot of pretty people, most of them so it's that they'll continue to do business with them. A very select few - the regulars in his bed - he actually cares about, but he'd never admit that. He is charming and a flirt and is not bashful about it at all. He likes people, he likes sleeping with people, and he doesn't have a whole lot of rules about who he sleeps with - and how many at a time. He does not and will not commit to one particular person, ever.

[edit] History

In 1986, Warren and Kathryn Worthington finally gave birth to a son. They had been trying for years now, Warren spending a lot of money in fertility treatments to aid in conception. The son was named Warren, in keeping with family tradition. Warren Worthington the Third, after his father and grandfather.

Warren was rather spoilt growing up. His parents lavished gifts on him instead of spending time with him, and the staff hired to raise him could not say no to the young heir, in fear of getting fired. The only person who had any control over Warren was his aunt Jessica (his mother's sister). While they didn't see each other all that often (Warren's father and Jessica didn't get along particularly well), Jessica was a moderating influence on Warren, taking him away from his privileged lifestyle and educating him about what life was really like. While it didn't stop Warren from being a spoilt brat, it did give him more of a grounding than other children in his situation, and a little more sense than he might have had otherwise.

Warren was very much the 'leader of the pack' when it came to his social circles. He was the richest, the prettiest, the most confident. He decided where they went and who went with him - him and a young lady called Candy Southern. It was always assumed that he and Candy were an item, but they weren't particularly serious about it.

Part of the 'inner circle' of this clique was a girl called Sara Grey. Sara was part of the crowd that was a couple of years older than Warren, but that hadn't stopped her from becoming good friends with Warren (despite Candy's occasion jealousy). Sara had a younger sister Warren's age, but Jean was too studious to spend all that much time with the partying crowd.

When Sara died in car crash, Jean was shattered. Without really understanding what was going on, Warren was there for her regardless, and they formed a strong bond during the experience. Without Warren really realising it, Candy dumped his ass in the process, and began dating his best friend, Cameron Hodges.

It wasn't until Warren's wings began to manifest that Warren started to realise that something was not quite right with the state of his relationships. He'd spent so much time concentrating on Jean that his circle had moved onto a new 'king', so to speak, and if it hadn't been for the distraction of the wings, he may have been mightily pissed.

However, this wasn't to be. His wings manifested during the second half of his junior year, and because of the pain involved during their growth, Warren missed a lot of school. His teachers eventually notified his parents of his absences, and the staff of the Worthington house were instructed to deal with it. Some of the staff knew about Warren's manifestation (and were sworn to secrecy), so they continued to try and cover for Warren as best they could, inventing stories about viruses and injuries that kept Warren out of trouble and their pockets lined with his cash. He designed for himself a harness to keep the wings strapped down when he needed to leave the house, but they didn't at all hide the extra bulk of the wings, and made it painful for him to lean against anything, and sometimes to sit.

One night, when most of the staff had been given the night off and Warren believed his parents were away for the weekend, he was wandering around the house without his harness on, giving his wings room to stretch. His father came home unexpectedly and discovered Warren's secret.

Furious, he attacked Warren, screaming about getting the winged freak out of his house. Warren fought back, but given that he weighed about half of what his father did, his father won, beating the crap out of Warren. It was after this that his father disowned Warren, telling him to get the hell out of his house or he would call the police.

Leaving with little but the pants he was wearing and his car, Warren got the hell out of there, ending up at Jean's place. Jean's parents took him in, giving him a place to stay while he recovered and figured out what the hell he was going to do next. The staff at Warren's old home managed to smuggle him most of his possessions (they had been instructed to throw it out or give it to charity, and when the stuff disappeared, Mister Worthington assumed his orders had been followed) and Warren began making plans for a new start.

Eventually, he and Jean left "on a road trip" for the summer, without actually having plans to return home.

[edit] Trivia

  • He owns a Mercedes CLK350 Cabriolet his father bought him before he was disowned. He's very precious about his car, even if he rarely drives it.
